Are you thinking or traveling through Central America? Perhaps you are the perfect candidate to do some flashpacking in Central America!
As we grow, we slowly change, many times, we are not even aware of the fact that we have changed, until we take some time to recall past experiences that we fully enjoyed, but would probably not enjoy doing them again as we get older. Travel, is certainly one those instances, where our preferences change as time goes by. The romantic days of traveling with a backpack and meeting fun people from around the world with whom we instantly made friendships will always follow us throughout our travel plans, however, sharing dorm rooms, bathrooms, and that general lack of private space suddenly seems somewhat lackluster for our current travel style.
It is time then, to become a flashpacker, and there are few places in the world that are better for flashpacking in Central America than Honduras! In general terms, a flashpacker is a traveler that refuses to give up his convenient backpack, loves to travel to far out places, and mingle with the local communities to live life changing experiences whilst traveling. So far, flashpacking and backpacking seem synonymous huh? Well, more or less, because the flashpacker is not willing to spend the night roughing it out in a hostel, sharing a room and a bath with other travelers. He has become somewhat picky, and is looking for place to stay in that has some “sense of place” a character of its own, and offers an experience in itself. According to Shivya Nath, an award winning travel blogger who is native to India, flashpacker is a “new term that’s doing the rounds in the travel circuit these days; it means a traveller who’s neither a backpacker nor a luxury traveller, but seeks value for money experiences.”
Shivya is an experienced traveler, author of a travel blog called “The Shooting Star” that recently travelled through Central America. For Honduras, she choose two different destinations as part of her flashpacking in Central America tour: The Cangrejal River Valley and the lovely Bay Island of Guanaja. You can read about her experiences in her blog page in the Honduras section.
There are of course, many different destinations where you can enjoy a great experience within Honduras as you to your flashpacking in Central America trip, however there is no doubt that the Cangrejal River Valley, near La Ceiba is one of the best options out there. Unique, award winning properties with a sense of place, such as La Villa de Soledad B&B are a magnificent addition to an already unique destination. Options available within the area include white water rafting, zip line canopy tours, waterfall descents and rappelling, hot springs, the unique Garifuna Culture and of course the magnificent Pico Bonito National Park, Nombre de Dios National Park, the Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge and the Cayos Cochinos Marine Reserve.
Few places in the region will offer you better options for a unique flashpacking in Central America trip! Go ahead, set your vacations dates up and book now for a vacation that will change the way you see Honduras and Central America!
